堪薩斯皇家投手11日（台北時間）與白襪隊打完9局以1比1平手，進入延長賽，王建民在11局上登板出賽，結果被2支安打失1分，但隊友在11局下再扳平，王建民躲過敗投。

先被佛拉齊爾(Todd Frazier)敲安打上壘，犧牲短打被占二壘，成功讓打者打成游擊滾地出局，但二出局三壘有人，對沙克(J.B. Shuck) 投出保送，再被安德森（Tim Anderson）安打失1分，幸好讓前隊友卡布雷拉（Melky Cabrera）左外野飛球出局解危。

皇家在11局下無人出局保送上壘，犧牲短打到二壘，捕手裴瑞茲適時二壘安打打進1分，再把比數變成2比2平手。

建仔1局用18球只有9個好球，被2支安打、1次保送，失1分，連續4場出賽都丟分，也是第1次在延長賽失分。
